Vyas Cave –
Vyas Cave is an ancient cave located about 2 km away from Manimahesh Lake near Bharmour town close to the Chamba district border with Himachal Pradesh state. It was believed that this cave was used by Ved Vyas (the author/editor/compiler/scribe behind the Mahabharata epic) during his stay there while writing down this epic scripture during BC 5th century sometime after he completed writing down Rigveda & before he wrote down Puranas (ancient Hindu scriptures).
Inside this cave, one can find images carved out of stone depicting scenes related not only to Mahabharata but also Ramayana (another major epic scripture ) along with a few inscriptions written in the old Sanskrit language.
